Motorola has officially released the Moto G Play (2024). It will be available on February 8 in the US at Amazon, Best Buy, and Motorola’s online store for just $149.99. After that, it will be available at Consumer Cellular, Verizon, Xfinity Mobile, Visible, Cricket, AT&T, UScellular, Cox Mobile, Straight Talk, Walmart Family Mobile, Total by Verizon, and Simple Mobile.
The phone will be available in Canada on January 26 at select carriers and national retailers. However, Motorola has yet to announce the price for Canada, only saying that it varies by carrier.
The new Moto G Play (2024) has a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS LCD touchscreen with 720×1,600 resolution, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 for durability.
The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 chipset, which does not support 5G. It is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. On the rear, it only has one camera – a 50 MP snapper with an LED flash. For selfies, it has an 8 MP camera.
The Moto G Play (2024) has a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 15W wired charging. However, you will need Motorola’s TurboPower 20W charger or higher to achieve this level of charging, which is not included in the box. Unfortunately, the phone runs on Android 13, and the company has not discussed updates.
On the bright side, the phone has IP52 certification, which means it is dust-protected and can withstand water dripping vertically across four positions. It can handle 3 mm (0.12″) of rainfall per minute.
